The 4 Elements in Dream Decoding

4 Elements-2If you’ve read some of my articles on dreams, listened to one of my talks, checked out some of my videos, or had a private consultation with me, you know what “the First Principle” of Dream Decoding is.

If not, let me share it with you: The First Principle of Dream Decoding is that Everything is Me.

What does this mean? It means that every aspect of a dream is you.

This can be a difficult idea to grasp for some dreamers. After all, how can dreams of family members, friends, co-workers, people you dislike—all represent you?

But they do. All the people who grace the stage of your dream theater productions represent the various aspects of your personality: your ideas, emotions, hopes, fears, and ideals.

Since everything in a dream is an aspect of you, you must always consider what aspects of you are being represented by the objects, locations, adults, children, animals, colors, numbers, emotions, and actions that appear in the nightly explorations of your subconscious.

And the four elements—earth, air, fire, and water—can help you figure things out.

What the 4 Elements Can Mean in Your Dreams

Earth
The most common element to appear in your dreams is the earth element. This will show up as the solid things in your dreams: houses, buildings, cars are some examples. These symbols can represent your physical body; the different rooms and areas point to different areas of the human body.

Think of the earth element as representing the nouns (the people, places, and things) in your dreams.

Fire
Symbols of fire in dreams—which is fire itself, as well as the things that can create fire (like bombs, electricity, and lightning) represent your emotions—and how those emotions can impact you and others negatively.

Air
Air symbolizes the “atmosphere” when it appears in dreams. The interiors of rooms, as well as external weather conditions (storms and tornadoes, for example) can reflect your state of mind (states such as anger, negativity, and pessimism).

Water
Water elements in dreams—for example, the ocean or sea, rivers, lakes, ponds, and pools—can represent your emotional (closely related to the fire element, in this respect), spiritual or cultural life.

How the water appears in your dreams indicates your philosophy on life. Certain bodies of water will suggest a need for more flow; some will show how you are restricting yourself in life; and some will be an indication for you to get into life.

In dreams about the physical body (the earth element), the state of the water can possibly represent ways your body is being polluted–and how you can cleanse it.

The Purpose of All Those Dream Elements

And that is really the purpose of your dreams. Your dreams come to you with the messages you need to help heal and improve the various areas of your life (your health, relationships, career, and spirituality).

Your dreams show you how you can change for the better. And your dreams use the 4 elements to do it.

In future articles, I will delve more deeply into each of the elements, using examples that can help you put this into practice.

Until then, this is your Dream Decoder wishing you Sweet Dreams!
