Success in 12 Months: The Score Does Matter

Welcome back to “Success in 12 Months”–your success mastery course!

We’re going into Week 3 of  Month 10 and the topic for this month is keeping score of the big–and small–wins you’ve been achieving.

You know the adage “It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.”

Tell that to Milorad Cavic, an Olympic swimmer who lost the Gold Medal in butterfly to American Michael Phelps by .01 second.

Cavic’s coach filed a protest. The officials and coaches had to review the tape slowed down to the 10-thousandth of a second.

The result was clear. Phelps touched first. That cost Serbia and Cavic the Gold Medal.

The two swimmers used different techniques to finish out the swim. Cavic glided to the finish, Phelps flapped his arms one more time to “chop” to the finish. Both methods are equally acceptable. In fact, the glide is probably more recommended.

The point here is: how well these guys swam the race wasn’t as important as how they finished.

This Week’s Exercise: The Importance of Keeping Score

In the first week of this month, I asked you to record all your big and small wins.

Then last week, I asked to you to list the 10 greatest wins/successes in your life and write in detail about what made them great.

Now that you have listed 10 great wins, this week, I want you to write in detail about what you learned from each of them. This exercise will help you realize why it is important to “keep score.”

We’ll wrap this up next week.

As I always say, share your thoughts and your progress, leave a comment below or e-mail me and let me know what’s been happening for you. I’m investing in you and want to support you in your success!

Your partner in both the big and small wins,
