Today’s Tarot: Have You Reached Your Limit?

The Tarot card for today, the 4 of Cups, is known as “Divine Discontent.” It can mean boredom, the status quo, things becoming routine, and the “same old, same old.” If this is true for you, this card is asking you to consider what you can do to liven things up.

In this depiction of the 4 of Cups, our housewife recoils from the drink being offered to her. She’s had too many already, evidenced by the three empty glasses. She now knows what “too much of a good thing” can mean. In this vein, this card can be about overindulgence. Maybe she had those drinks to liven things up—if she has any more, she could become the life of the party–and that might not be a good thing!

There’s a flip side to this card, though. It can also mean that help is on the way—but that you may be preoccupied or distracted by other things to see it—and therefore, appreciate it—when it shows up. This card is asking you, in that sense, to pay attention.

Whichever the case may be, the 4 of Cups is beckoning for a change—and asking you to be open and receptive to things changing. Other possibilities only appear when you are ready. But first, you have to get to the point where you say, “Enough’s enough,” that you’ve reached your limit.
