Consulting the (Angel) Cards: Marketing Your Mojo

Consulting the angel cards header

It’s been a while since I’ve dived into the mailbag and consulted the cards for readers of the blog. In past entries, I’ve used Tarot, playing cards, and Lenormand to answer questions from readers. Now, after training with Radleigh Valentine to become a Certified Angel Card Reader™, I’ve been wanting to use the Angel cards to address a situation for a reader.

And I found that situation, in the form of a submission from Jana, a spiritual solopreneur. Here’s her situation and question…

Hi, James,

Like you, I’m operating a spiritually-based business (I work as an Akashic Records Consultant).

Recently, I was contacted to continue advertising my business in a local metaphysical publication. I had taken out a space in the publication for six months, and was being contacted to re-up for another six months. I didn’t get any business from the ad, so there was no ROI (return on investment).

The situation has led me to consider the bigger question of my marketing efforts. With that, I’d like to know what the cards have to tell me about marketing my spiritual business at this time.

Thanks so much for giving time and consideration to my question.

Having a number of Angel card decks to choose from, I’m using the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards (published by Hay House).

My reasoning for the choice is that Archangel Gabriel, for me, is not only the angel of communication and the arts, but also what I refer to as the “marketing specialist angel,” making his angelic energy perfect to tune into this situation.

Taking the deck in hand, I’m shuffling the cards, focusing on Jana’s question about her marketing efforts, and drawing three cards.

Reading the Cards

Creative Expression, from the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards.
Creative Expression, from the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards.

The first card, which tells us about Jana’s situation, is Creative Expression.

Drawing from the image, which has a couple performing on-stage, first leads me to see this card as commenting on the “stage” of Jana’s business, and how her marketing efforts are “performing” for her. In this light, this card confirms Jana’s taking a step back and assessing—and possibly re-assessing—her marketing.

The bouquets of flowers being thrown on-stage is the card’s way of asking Jana to consider what marketing efforts are getting her work noticed, that are garnering the attention she’s looking for. Since the flowers are coming from an (unseen) audience, a question for Jana to consider is if she’s marketing to the right audience, in the places and spaces they would be to come in contact with her work.

Looking at the text on the card, the word “actions” pops out, leading me to ask Jana to consider what “actions” she would need to take to be seen, as the card implies that actions bring rewards. This could mean that Jana needs to be clear on the desired results she wants from her marketing overall (rewards), but also consider what “actions” she wants people to “perform” with each individual piece of marketing.

Time Management, from the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards.
Time Management, from the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards.

The second card, in the position of guidance or advice, is Time Management.

The obvious meaning of this card is to manage time. In the context of Jana’s question, though, Time Management is inviting her to consider a few things.

One thing for Jana to consider is making her marketing efforts a priority, as the word “priorities” is printed on the card. Time Management implies marketing needs to be a part of her “to-do list” (again, these words are on the card) and to be focused with those efforts.

Time Management encourages Jana to prioritize her marketing, as well as create a marketing calendar or schedule. It could be that she blocks out certain periods of time in her day for marketing.

Drawing on the image, which has Archangel Gabriel communicating with a woman, could be carrying the message of taking some of that time to check in with people on a 1-to-1 basis. It could also suggest that she not let personal conversations distract her or deter her focus from marketing (again those words appearing on the card).

Let Go, from the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards.
Let Go, from the Archangel Gabriel Oracle Cards.

The final card I pulled for Jana, in the position of a probable outcome, is Let Go.

The first thing this card means is to let go of trying to control the situation. But since this card is the last card, it could mean releasing control of the outcome, and not having attachment to a particular desired end result.

Let Go advises the spiritual idea of “letting go and letting God,” which means that, as Jana does her part, she also creates the space (which is known as the process of “allowing”) for the Universe to do Its part.

I call this the “this or something better” intention, which allows us to state what we’d like to see happen, but allows the Universe to provide something bigger and better than we can imagine.

Drawing from the image, I notice the woman on the card with one hand on her heart and the other on her head. The hand on the head is about what’s on Jana’s mind, while the hand on the heart is about what’s in Jana’s heart. This is a suggestion for Jana to be in touch with her thoughts and feelings about either marketing in general or marketing her business in particular.

Hands symbolize work and activity (think being “hands-on”), and this could mean there’s some work she might need to do in changing her thoughts and feelings, which might lead to better marketing results.

The nimbus of light around the woman’s head can suggest that if Jana were to perform this check on herself, she might receive some inspired ideas to act upon.

I say that because next to the woman, on her right side, is a staircase, which symbolizes that Jana may be given inspiration and the action “steps” she needs to take in the future. I’m getting the sense, since Jana is a spiritual person, that the steps will be shown to her as she connects with Spirit (symbolized by Archangel Gabriel appearing to the woman).

And, I’ll close on this note: the word “resolve” pops out for me from the text. I see it first as “re-solve,” meaning to solve again, or that a different solution to the situation is going to present itself.

Resolve is defined as the “firm determination to do something.” A word synonymous with resolve is “commitment,” so I see this as a message to Jana to remain committed to marketing her business, but be open to trying different things.

Let Go, in that regard, could be suggesting that she let go of the things that aren’t “performing” well and producing results (like that local publication she mentioned).

In Closing…

I hope this reading has been helpful and insightful for Jana. Hopefully she’ll circle back with her thoughts as well as an update on how things are going with her marketing.

And I hope you enjoyed seeing the process of how I read and consult with Angel cards. If you’re interested in having your own consultation appear in this space, send your submission to james@jameshimm.com with Consulting the Cards in the subject line.
