The Message of My Work—from the Angels (and the Unicorns)

message-of-work-header

Now that I’ve incorporated Angel card readings into my business, I began reflecting on the idea of a central “message” of this particular work, and how to communicate that message to prospective clients.

For me, one of the best ways to receive guidance about the service offering is to turn to the tool itself. I’ve done this for both Tarot and Lenormand in the past, and I decided to turn to the Angel cards and get the answer straight from the source, so to speak.

I decided to use the newest Angel card deck in my collection, the Oracle of the Angels (created by Mario Duguay and published by Blue Angel Publishing), forming these questions during my invocation (inviting the energies of the angels): “Angels, what message do I have to share in my work as a(n angel) card reader? What do I have to say that others need to hear, Archangel Gabriel?”

I named Archangel Gabriel specifically because Gabriel is the chief messenger angel and assists in all forms of communication. I always invoke Gabriel, asking for help with the “right and perfect words” before engaging in any kind of communication process.

When I work with Angel cards, I shuffle the deck and pull the cards (in this case, three). I turn them over and read them one at a time.

The Message in the Cards

Heaven's Door, from the Oracle of the Angels by Mario Duguay.
Heaven’s Door, from the Oracle of the Angels by Mario Duguay.

The first card is Heaven’s Door.

The first message that comes to me with this card is being shown the way by my angels and guides, symbolized by the figure showing the way to the door, and the orbs of lights, which symbolize the angels.

The path symbolizes the path I’m on, and the doorway symbolizes an opportunity being presented to me on the path.

The card makes me feel that, in my work as a card reader, I’m operating as a guide for my clients, offering possibilities for them to “see the light” regarding the situations we discuss throughout their readings.

Having a working knowledge of numerology (which I use in my work with career codes), my angels have asked me to look at the numbers on the cards as angel numbers. Heaven’s Door has the number 27, which is a message to “continue on your path (7) with faith (2)—you’re doing the right thing.”

The next card is Harmony.

The first thing I notice with this card is the obvious reference to meditation, which is a topic I have written about in this space before. Meditation is the process of either going within or turning within. Meditation can be a “doorway” to access divine guidance, which is another reference to the previous card, Heaven’s Door.

The butterfly on the card is a symbol of change and transformation. Meditation is a transformative process that leads to the change of radiating from the inside-out rather than being affected by external conditions and factors (the outside-in).

Seeing this aspect of the card brought to mind an experience I had when I was out in the working world, before taking on self-employment.

I’m on the sales floor of the department at the job I’m working, and I’m standing before a scale. I’m having some external challenge, meaning something is happening that I’m not happy with. No sooner than the thought about my displeasure comes into my head, I hear a “voice” saying to me that “happiness is an inside job,” and for me to bring happiness to the job, not have the expectation of outer conditions making me happy with the job.

Looking back at that experience, the scale takes on the symbolism of “weight,” and my facing it was my facing a “weighty” challenge, or a challenge that’s been “weighing” on me.

Harmony suggests the “message” I’m sharing in this work is to help clients come to a place of peace within regarding the external challenges they experience. Here, specifically, the angels point to the idea that the message is about doing the “inner work” which is then reflected in outer conditions—not the other way around.

The number 7 on the card, as an angel number, says, “You’re on the right path—keep up the good work.” In traditional numerology, 7 is the number of spiritual development, self-awareness, and personal insights—as well as incorporating meditation into one’s spiritual practice.

Ascension, from the Oracle of the Angels by Mario Duguay.

The final card is Ascension.

The first thing I notice here is the repeated symbolism of the doorway leading into the light. The figure walking to the steps that lead to the doorway symbolizes taking the steps—one step at a time—that lead to a higher level of awareness.

This makes me feel that the opportunity (doorway) is always open to us (no doors on doorway) when we’re ready to take the steps to see our experiences in a new light.

The tree shaped like a pair of hands, for me, represents the work and activities (think “hands-on”) we engage in with the intention (trees are seeds that are planted) of growing and developing—and that the process can take time (trees take time to grow).

And just like the doorway, the hands are open, which is about being open and receptive, and embracing the light (awareness) that comes to us. The symbolism here says the process of awareness is in our hands.

The number 43 carries the message that our angels (4), as well as the ascended masters (3)—the spiritual teachers who were human, reached a state of enlightenment, and taught us how we can do the same—are with us, supporting us. We just have to invoke them, which means ask for their help and assistance.

To round out this reading, I’m going to total the numbers on the cards, looking for a number between 1 and 44, as there are 44 cards in the deck (and is an angel number that means many angels are with you now). I’ll then find the corresponding card to the total, making that the essence of the reading.

The Essence of the Message

Adding 27 + 7 + 43, the total is 77. As an angel number, 77 bears the message, “Congratulations! You’re on the right path. Stick to your intentions.”

Positive Intention, from the Oracle of the Angels by Mario Duguay.

Because it’s over 44, I’m adding 7 + 7, which equals 14. The 14th card in the deck is Positive Intention.

So, along with the number 77, we have a repeated message about intention, which I also mentioned with Ascension.

With this card, the message here is about the fruit of our intentions. It reminds me of the Universal Law of Cause and Effect, as well as the spiritual principle of sowing and reaping.

When we experience a result (outer condition or effect) we’re not pleased with, we have to consider the intention we had around it (the seed we planted), as well as the actions we took along the way (symbolized by the woman’s hands holding the fruit and the wheat). Were those actions in alignment with the intention? Were those the best actions that were going to lead to the result we wanted?

14, as an angel number, offers the message that “the angels are with you (4), helping you manifest your positive thoughts, affirmations, and visualizations into reality (1).”

To reinforce this idea, there are unicorns in the background on the card, and unicorns symbolize positive intentions.

I was looking at the unicorns, getting the sense that “unicorn energy”—something I’ve not worked with before—may be coming into this new work with angel card readings.

Feeling there may be more to this, I remembered that I purchased a deck of Unicorn Cards by Diana Cooper (and published by Findhorn Press) eons ago, because four of the cards have archangels on them (Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, and Michael)—but I never really used them. I felt led to get the deck out and pull a card.

The Message from the Unicorns

Shuffling the cards, I asked the question, “Unicorns, what do you want to tell me about the message I’m to share in my work as a(n angel) card reader?”

The card I pulled is Archangel Gabriel.

My first reaction is that I love being a card reader, because you just can’t make this stuff up.

Here is Archangel Gabriel, the angel I specifically named in the question, and his energy is accompanied by the unicorns.

The card reads, “Call in the pure white light,” which refers back to the light in the doorways of both Heaven’s Door and Ascension.

This card is about finding clarity and Gabriel and the unicorns can help bring light concerning the way forward (the path on Heaven’s Door)—and becoming clear about the next step (the steps on Ascension).

Since Gabriel is the chief messenger angel, a part of my work is to communicate the messages I receive (through the process of reading the cards) in a way that’s clear and easily understood by my clients.

The final message for me comes in the form of angel number 39 (the number of the card); the number means, “The ascended masters (3) say, Get to work, lightworker! Your mission (9) is much needed, and they wish to help you along your path.”

And with that, I’ll bring this reading to a close.
